Wow! What a gorgeous landscape! And beautiful ocean views to boot! Love the black rock you're garden is growing out of. Very pretty. And all your plants are so exotic and perfect for your locale. The plumeria in the first photo is nice.
Mahalo (thanks Floridagirl) We live on 350-500 year old pahoehoe lava. Not much soil, but we had some ironwood trees (pine) that left behind pockets of soil in the pukas (holes). In addition we added some "cinder soil". Still much to do in the landscape... I think one is never done!
I moved to Hawaii from Tempe, Arizona with my life partner Scott in the summer of 2007. We both took early retirement from "Corporate America" to build a house on the sea cliffs of Hawaiian Paradise Park, in Kea'au, Hawaii.
Living oceanfront in the Puna District of the Big Island offers gardening challenges. Follow me as I take the journey!
